So, September 2010–what were you doing? After 9/11, after the Great Recession started, in President Obama’s first term. How bad have things become since then?

I’m asking because I noticed the other day that World War II began with the Nazi invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939 and a declaration of war by Great Britain and France.

The United States joined the Allies after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

The United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 and on Nagasaki on August 9.

World War II ended with the Japanese signing of surrender on the U.S.S. Missouri on September 2, 1945.

World War II lasted six years, almost to the day.
